"Serving constituents is a privilege" says Ian Sollom on the eve of his first year as an MP

When he was elected as MP for St Neots and Mid Cambridgeshire, Ian Sollom promised to serve his constituents with dedication, integrity and judgement to make a real difference to their lives. And on the eve of his one year in office, Ian has renewed that promise, saying meeting with and supporting local people has been a great privilege and remains his priority.
Ian has run weekly online and in-person surgeries, giving constituents the opportunity to speak with him about a wide variety of issues affecting them and their families. These have ranged from access to health services, education and housing issues through to some very personal and tragic cases affecting constituents.
He has also received a very large volume of correspondence and aims to prioritise those constituents in immediate need such as those facing homelessness, abuse, urgent healthcare issues and financial difficulties.
Ian said: “Meeting with constituents, listening to their concerns and trying to help them is something that I have been determined to dedicate my time to as their MP. This has often led to asking questions of the Government or other organisations, putting pressure on them to make changes or find solutions to issues where possible.
“I receive a lot of emails from constituents every week about a huge variety of topics, some of whom need my help urgently, and I do try to prioritise those most in need. However, I also appreciate people contacting me about more general concerns they have around government policies and international affairs. Although it can take longer to reply to general questions, I do aim to answer every single email.
“It is really important that people are able to contact their MP, and I try to be as accessible as possible, so please do email me if you would like to meet.”
